Terms & Conditions Counselling

By participating in my counselling session, online and in-person classes, you are confirming, understanding, and accepting our Terms and Conditions set forth below

1. Nature of the Service

You will be working with a trainee counsellor who is undertaking professional training and working under the supervision of a qualified clinical supervisor. These sessions are offered as part of their training placement and are not a substitute for professional mental health diagnosis or psychiatric treatment.

2. Confidentiality
All sessions are confidential in accordance with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework. However, confidentiality may need to be broken if:

There is serious risk of harm to yourself or others

There is disclosure of abuse involving a child or vulnerable adult

There is involvement in certain criminal activity (e.g. terrorism, money laundering)

If required by a court of law

Where possible, any such disclosures will be discussed with you beforehand.

3. Supervision
As part of professional standards, the trainee's work is regularly reviewed with a qualified clinical supervisor. Information shared during supervision is anonymised to protect your identity and is solely for the purpose of professional development and ensuring best practice.

4. Session Structure
Sessions last approximately 50 minutes and are usually held weekly, unless agreed otherwise. Consistency and punctuality are important for the therapeutic process. If you are running late, please notify the trainee if possible.

5. Cancellations and Non-Attendance
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule a session. Missed sessions or repeated cancellations without notice may result in the service being withdrawn. In cases of illness or emergencies, reasonable allowances will be made.

6. Crisis and Emergency
This is not a crisis or emergency service. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health crisis, you should contact:

Samaritans (24/7): 116 123

NHS 111 or your GP

In emergencies, dial 999

7. Duration and Ending
Counselling may be time-limited depending on the trainee's placement. You are free to end counselling at any time. The trainee may also suggest an ending if they feel it is appropriate, which will be discussed with you in advance to allow for a planned and supported ending process.

8. Data Protection
All personal data is handled in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. Any written records or notes are stored securely and kept confidential. You have the right to access, correct, or request the deletion of your data where applicable.

9. Consent
By attending sessions, you confirm that you understand and agree to these terms.
